Dining out can be tricky for coeliacs, especially in small towns. Faced with a menu of pasta, pizza and cakes, those who suffer with a gluten allergy are often left with limited options and that awkward feeling that comes with asking for a special meal.
Those sensitive to gluten will be spoilt for choice at Wheeler’s with a range of delicious options spanning their a-la-carte and takeaway menus.
The Restaurant offers a selection of gluten-free meals such as the ever-popular seafood platter (with both gluten-free and dairy-free options available), the tender and flavourful char-grilled Riverina Black Angus eye fillet, and moreish sides like the crushed boutique potatoes with crème fraiche, shaved bottarga and honey-roasted root vegetables.
Gluten-free dessert options to tempt your tastebuds include the trio of house-made fruit sorbets, the white chocolate semi freddo, and the traditional Italian coffee-based dessert – affogato.
In the takeaway shop, you can enjoy beer-battered fish and chips (grilled fish is also available), sweet potato chips with garlic aioli, oysters, prawns and fresh salad. As well as a beautiful selection of homemade gluten-free cakes.
If it’s a special experience you’re after, Wheeler’s is definitely your destination… particularly if you are gluten-free
